Without further ado…

Rose Byrne in this amazing Monique Lhuillier I am obsessed with. I couldn’t decide on Elle Fanning – I love the Tiffany high jewelry necklace of the second outfit (Valentino dress – obviously with NO red tights or shawl), but the first dress better (also Valentino).

For Teyana Taylor I LOOOVE the idea of her in a leopard print like this Elie Saab (could leave the shawl and just do this insane Louis Vuitton bib necklace!) or this drapey beaded Elie Saab. For Kate Hudson, I think she looks amazing in dressed up boho looks, so either of these Elie Saab gowns would be BANANAS. For Emma Stone I could SO see her in this Jenny Packham jeweled sheath dress with short sleeves (her short hair would look perfect). But I also could see her go full femme in this incredible Monique Lhuillier!

I think this Valentino (NO GLOVES!) would be SO SO good on Jessie Buckley, especially with turquoise sculptural earrings. And this black and cream ballgown by Carolina Herrera would look so striking with a red lip and big diamond earrings. I am fully obsessed with this look for Amy Madigan (again, Monique Lhullier)- I love the sheath style with the modern tunic style embellishments. Add a really amazing statement cuff and BOOM!

A (Sort Of) Red Carpet Review: Oscars 2021 https://elementsofstyleblog.com/a-sort-of-red-carpet-review-oscars-2020/ https://elementsofstyleblog.com/a-sort-of-red-carpet-review-oscars-2020/#comments Mon, 26 Apr 2021 17:06:31 +0000 https://www.elementsofstyleblog.com/?p=40257 It sure didn’t FEEL like the Oscars, did it? Not much of a red carpet as very few people actually went beyond the nominees and a few presenters – so there isn’t a whole lot to review (also see my Stories today to hear why I can’t do the standard Red Carpet Review on here anymore).

Basically, I didn’t love anyone (see roundup here). Amanda Seyfried looked best of anyone. I was not a huge fan of all the midriff cutouts on Carrie Mulligan, Vanessa Kirby, Zendaya, Andra Day, etc. Regina King’s wings were a bit too costume-y for me. Reese’s dress was a really pretty color combo but not a great cut. Halle Berry’s bow was MASSIVE (very Devil Wears Prada) and I wasn’t a fan of the hair either. Looked a little Ramona Quimby Age 8.

So instead I’m going to post the dresses I wish people had worn! :)

Christian Dior for Maria Bakalova

Carolina Herrera for Vanessa Kirby

A little Ellie Saab leopard for Zendaya

Naeem Khan for Glen Close

Badgley Mischka for Laura Dern

Amanda Seyfried in Zuhair Murad (with the skirt lined in nude and the same hair/ makeup she had!)

Valentino for Chloe Zhao

Ellie Saab for Carey Mulligan

Jenny Packham for Isla Fisher

Badgley Mischka for Viola Davis

Halle Berry in a full length gown version of this Christian Dior.

Naeem Khan for Margot Robbie

Pamella Roland for Audra Day

This Marchesa would have been so pretty on Regina King

or this Badgley Mischka
