I find that far too many designers and people tend to design a room as if an adult would be living in there. Colefax and Fowler?? Kravet? You are desiging this room as if it is for YOU. Unicorns and colour is what children love. COLOUR!! This isn’t a room for you but for her. She is your client…sort of. Yes it is your house but this is about HER. Far too many times designers impose their style upon a child without really incorporating what it means to be a child. Designer wallpaper is awesome but really shouldn’t it be about her? It’s just a room- let it reflect her.

I thought this was such a fun idea. Add unicorns to requests for Lilo & Stitch, Minecraft, baseball-theme, just all of the nonsense. I think this is a great backdrop for adding a few (disposable) items like the plushie that read literal unicorn. Great job.

Yeah, I’m going to agree with Susan here. It’s lovely, but I saw this and was confused, as it doesn’t look like a little girl’s unicorns and rainbow room at all. My daughter wanted her room bright pink as a kid, which I thought was over the top but went with it. Later I found a school assignment where she had written about just how much she loved her room and loved being in it. Sometimes, it’s good to let kids express their tastes, even if you hate it.

I’m not a five year old girl but I’ve had a couple. Your taste is high end and lovely but…it doesn’t particularily read rainbows and unicorns. Good luck with this challenge. I’m intriqued to see how it plays out.
